Get ready for the annual Pack 958 Family Campout!

What: Camping in cabins.  Four of the five cabins we have reserved have wood stoves.  All have electricity and are well kept with bunks that sleep from 12 to 25 people.  The bathhouse has real toilets and hot showers, although you may want to bring flip-flops if you plan to take a shower.  Telephones are NOT provided, but cell phones are fine (Finding a cell may be tricky, but it is possible).  Firewood is NOT provided, but downed trees can be used.  We also plan to bring some wood with us for use.  Anyone that has a pick-up and can haul wood to the camp for us please call Laura Young or email her at Youngls@erols.com.

When: October 13-15

Where: Lion’s Camp (Directions-take 15 south to Rt. 50,  Turn right going west.  Follow Rt. 50 through Middle burg and Paris.  Turn left on to Rt. 638 (east side of the Shenandoah River Bridge), go 1.6 miles and turn left at the Lion’s sign.  The gate should be open.  If not, then it will be unlocked, although it may look as if it is locked.  After going through the gate DO NOT lock it.  Follow this gravel road past another gate.  Continue until you come to a group of cabins.  (You may feel lost, but you really aren’t!)  We’ll also have people on the look out for you.

Who: All ranks of scouts and their parent9S0…(siblings may also attend).

Cost: $5.00 per scout to cover patch and supplies for activities.

Leesburg Annual Halloween Parade

Pack 958 will participate again in this all time favorite event!

Plan to meet up at the VFW Hall (across from Rust Library) at 4:00pm on Tuesday, October 31st.  We will all walk over to Ida Lee for the parade line up and the parade will start promptly at dusk.  The end of the parade is currently schedule to be at the Safeway parking lot, but if the construction on King Street is not complete in time, the parade will turn and finish at Market Station.  Anyone with a pickup that can volunteer to drive in the parade for kids to ride in please call Jen Manno or email her at danjoeman@aol.com.  Overbrook Nursery has once again volunteered one of their flatbed trucks for us to decorate and ride on as well.  Cheers to Overbrook Nursery and owner, Mike Burke!  Cubs will need to wear their costumes for the parade and bring a large bag of candy (no hard candy, please) to hand out to little ones along the parade route. Parents will be expected to walk the parade route with the pack, so come dressed for the occasion either in costume, uniform, or whatever!   Hope to see everyone there!

Scouting for Food is almost upon us…

November 4th is the date for distribution of bags and November 11th is the date for picking up the food.  Scouting for Food is one way our pack gives back to the community.  This event gives our cubs the opportunity to restock the various Food Closets within our community.  What a great feeling it is to know that one has helped feed those in need!

This event needs a volunteer to organize and put this project in action.  It is a short-term volunteer position.  If your time for volunteering is limited, this is the event for you!  Please see Jen Manno or email her at danjoeman@aol.com for more information or to volunteer.

Don’t forget to sell that popcorn…

January will be here before we know it and we want to see Mr. Richard shave his head…don’t we????  Yeah!

The first collection date for orders can be made tonight at the pack meeting (Oct. 2).  Orders place tonight will be delivered at the Nov. pack meeting.  The second, and last, collection date will be Nov. 1st.  You can turn your orders into your den leader or you may turn them into Laura Young.  Make sure you have full payment with your orders.
